Architectural Metals

The craftsmen at Architectural Metals have extensive experience in helping you design the best possible anodizing solution. We’re relentless in quality control, and our shipping team will get your products to you without damage and on time.

Architectural Metals (AMI) has been in the Anodizing and metal finishing business for over 60 years specializing in large extrusion and fabricated work.  In 1987 AMI built a new facility to better supply its sister company Winco Window Co.  With improvements in technology and efficiency AMI now has the ability to satisfy the demands of Winco with less than half of its capacity and has been taking on new customers for 30 plus years.  We are always improving our processes and techniques to ensure quality and efficient processing of all configurations of material.

AMI is unique in the industry as a mid sized anodizer with capabilities for multiple racks or single racks with custom fabrications . Our large format tanks and ability to build custom racking allows AMI to handle large and awkward shapes easily. Whether it is a highly custom fabrication on a small trailer or 40,000 pounds of extrusion coming into our indoor loading and unloading facility you can be confident that AMI is the right partner to handle it.

I was recently reminded of how important thinking through the whole design of a project and how it relates to the anodizing process is. We are working on a Mural project with a local artist and he would like to use aluminum panels to paint on. We are doing an acid etch to prepare the panels for a base primer to allow the artist plenty of time to work out his design. The Etch process is a normal preparation for anodizing and makes one of the best pretreatments for paint. The Artist wants the whole panel to be utilized in the mural so avoiding rack marks is important to everyone. After speaking with the installer we learned that the panels were being mounted on brick and holes were going to be drilled in the perimeter of the panels. This was perfect! We would be able to hang the panels from the holes and avoid rack marks altogether. Furthermore, communicating this to the painter helped their process and planning. All of this planning gives us the best chance of making our customers happy and both of our work look the best.
